2. With respect to the New Immigrants of the late nineteenth century, describe what the native born Americans were concerned about. Do you think their fears were justified? Why or why not?

3. Does the U.S. have any problems related to immigration today? If so, what solutions exist to fix these problems?

4. Describe the efforts of social reformers and churches to aid the New Immigrants and alleviate urban problems.

5. Explain the statement that late 19th century cities "grew up, out, & apart." If you lived during this time, what might attract you to the city?

6. In what ways was the city a "frontier of opportunity for women"?

7. How was American religion affected by the urban transformation, the New Immigration, and cultural and intellectual changes?

8. How do you think you would have reacted to Charles Darwin's theory of evolution had you been alive at the time it was proposed?

9. Explain the growing national debates about morality in the late 19th century in relation to the changing roles of women & the family.

10. Explain the different beliefs of Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. DuBois. Who do you agree with most and why?

AGREE OR DISAGREE - make a "T" Chart of the prompt that follows. Label one side "Agree" and the other side "Disagree." Write 3 sentences explaining 3 pieces of evidence that would support the prompt and write 3 sentences explaining 3 pieces of evidence that would oppose the prompt. After completing the evidence chart, use it to write a thesis statement that addresses the prompt.

"There were more positive effects for New Immigrants in coming to America than there were negative effects during the late 19th and early 20th century." Agree or Disagree?

CATEGORIZE - make 3 to 5 categories of evidence to answer the following prompt and then list facts in each category to support the category. After completing the chart, write a thesis statement that answers the prompt. Your these statement must address the evidence that supports your opinion.
