SOCRATIC SEMINAR PROMPTS - Select three of the following prompts and write a one paragraph response to each prompt you select

1. Describe and account for the Franklin Roosevelt "Good Faith" foreign policy during his first term in office.  Compare FDR's foreign policies to that of his cousin Theordore Roosevelt.

2. What foreign policies and events of the twentieth century had established America as an isolationist nation by the 1932?

3. Analyze the rise of totalitarian dictators in the Eastern Hemisphere during the 1930's.  Focus on who they were, what they believed in and how they assumed power.

4. What historical lessons should we learn from the rise of men like Adolf Hitler?

5.  As Europe and Asia fell to totalitarianism and invasion in the 1930's, why did America remain neutral?  In what ways was America's neutrality evident?

6. Explain FDR's position on the war in Europe up to 1941.  Focus on the Destroyer for Bases Deal, Cash & Carry, Lend Lease and the Atlantic Charter.

7. Why did the U.S. ultimately enter World War II?

8. Compare and contrast the events of December 7, 1941 to September 11, 2001.

9. When do you think you would have demanded involvement in World War II?  When do you think you should have demanded involvement?
